Premier League recap - Hat-trick has been created.

Midweek fixtures are sometimes a pain to play and for all of England that was exactly the case with the twenty teams having to play their first mid-week fixtures of the new league. The big news to come from the mid-week fixtures coming at Highbury with Vincent Samways becoming the first person to score a hat-trick in the Premier League as he led Tottenham to a 3-2 win over Arsenal in what was a disappointing day for Pål Lydersen.

But the main match of the midweek was between Leeds and Manchester United with the teams being first and second in the previous season. With the battle firmly in the balance, it was Lee Chapman who scored for Leeds United as he gave the champions, their first points on the board with a 1-0 win. The other Manchester team in City got themselves two from 2 with a 2-1 win over Ipswich as they were joined with QPR and Nottingham Forest who also got wins to join them on six points.
