The August Recap

As we hit five matchdays down for the 1992-93 season, the first awards have been presented of the brand new Premier League with Paul Mcgrath being the senior player of the month as he got an eight rating for Aston Villa which was the same rating as Dwight Yorke who is also from Aston Villa as he got young player of the month. The Manager of the Month goes to Trevor Francis who has given Sheffield Wednesday hope very early on in the season.

Of course we don’t like to be absent away from the lower leagues as that is where some interesting do take place. So along with the award recap, we will talk about the lower divisions here. Starting with Division 1 and Grimsby is currently the early leader after August. This is because of the fact that they have also scored the most with the total being at nine. Leading the pack to chase them down is Portsmouth, Sunderland, and Middlesbrough with each of them being a point behind the team that is higher than them.

On the other end of the table, Cambridge, Millwall, and Charlton are currently in relegation.

Over in Division Two, Stockport holds the early lead at the moment as they hold a three-point buffer over four teams as Swansea, Burnley, Birmingham, and Bradford all are currently on ten points with Brighton only a point back from those teams. On the flip side of the table, it’s really close early with six teams only separated by one point after five games with Fulham being the only team on four points to be in the relegation as they are currently with Notts County and West Bromwich.

In the third tier, we have two teams currently on top of the table with only goal difference being the separation with Wigan being on top by a single goal after five games over Walsall who is in the other promotion spot. Currently, in the playoffs, we have Shrewsbury, Plymouth, and Blackpool on nine points with Preston North End being ahead of Rochdale on goal difference. On the bottom of the table, Chester is currently the team that could be relegated to the Conference.
