Coca-Cola Cup recap - First Round (Leg 1)

The first English Cup of the season started today with the first leg of the Coca-Cola Cup being played between 2nd and 3rd tier sides. With this being two legs for some teams, it will be vital to get off to a winning start.

We first head over to Bournemouth home's ground as they took on the fellow second-tier side in Rotherham and Bournemouth will be holding a one-goal advantage heading into the second leg after goals from Paul Wood and Sean O'Driscoll gave Bournemouth the victory. But Rotherham will be hoping that they can get a win at home after scoring a late consolation goal coming from Shaun Goather. While in the other division two battle, it was a 0-0 draw between Southend and Notts County.

Most of the battles between second tier and third tier sides went in favour of the second tier sides but not in the game between Preston North End and Reading with Preston North End who are currently 3rd in the league taking a two-goal lead heading into the second leg as they had three different goalscorers in the win over Reading.

There was also wins for Wigan and Hull City against other third-tier sides.
