Coca-Cola Cup action occurred all across England with most of the third-tier clubs getting through into the second round with only two teams being eliminated that were in the third-tier. That was only because they were apart of the battle of the second-tier teams.
We start our recap at Elm Park where Reading came back from two goals down from the first leg to score a 4-0 win to win the match 5-3 on aggregate. This happened because of four different goalscorers. Scarborough had a match that they would rather forget as away over at Vetch Field. In the game against Swansea, they conceded six goals with three in either half as Keith Walker scored a double in the 6-0 demolition to book their spot into the second round.
In the battle between two second-tier sides, Bournemouth and Notts County qualified through to the second round with Tony Agana scoring two goals for Notts County as they won 3-1 over Southend. Bournemouth held Rotherham to a 1-1 draw despite having two bookings in the match to still win 3-2 on aggregate. Blackpool recorded a victory over another a higher tier side with it being Stockport. But they wouldn't win the tie as they would lose 3-2 on aggregate.
