Premier League action - Sheffield Wednesday goes top on goal difference

Sheffield Wednesday will be on top of the table heading into the international break after Chris Waddle scored a double which would secure a 3-1 win over the lowly ranked Wimbledon side. This also factored in a send-off to Danny Wilson which guided them even more to a victory.

Another team that did well was Nottingham Forest who secured a 2-1 win over Sheffield United away from home to be only one point behind the leading two teams. That other team being on top was QPR with Darren Peacock scoring a goal in the second half to get a 1-1 draw over Arsenal. For Arsenal, this meant that they were out of the relegation spots for the time being after six matchdays.

There was also wins for Crystal Palace, Southampton and Everton as they recorded a 1-0 over their opposition to secure the three points heading into the mid-week break.
